This year’s geologic tour, winds through the wild Telekes valley, which runs through the north-eastern part of Rudabánya Mountains. The gorge created by the Telekes Stream presents spectacular and instructive formations representing the various sedimentary rocks of the area. The predominantly Triassic rocks carry hundred million old messages. During our tour you will become acquainted with the rich surface and underground karst formations such as the Devil’s Dam Cave, Csengő Spring Sinkhole and the Mystical Devil’s Dam cliff (with waterfall) that was mentioned in documents as far back as the 13th century.
The tour is conducted by a geologist as part of the National GeoTop Days. Please dress for a hike and bring appropriate footwear and equipment.
