Based at the Manor House Environmental Education Centre in Jósvafő, Aggtelek National Park is the home to Hungary’s only hucul stud farm.
The hucul breed of horse originates in the Carpathians, and is genetically similar to ancient wild horses and the horses from the time of the Hungarian conquest in the mid- to late-10th century.
The horses can be seen all year round in the pasture about 1 km from Jósvafő. Inquire at the Manor House Environmental Education Centre for riding opportunities.
