On July 12, 2016, Michal Adamec of the Slovakian State Nature Protection Office (Štátna ochrana prírody Slovenskej republiky - SR SOP) and Balázs Veress, Director of Aggtelek National Park signed a cooperation agreement between the two organisations for 2016.
The signatory parties agreed on joint cross-border submission and execution of conservation research and monitoring in relation to Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage-related activities for the protection of a unified and coherent karst system. Part of the agreement includes joint action and research on migratory species and large carnivores, as well as fighting invasive species.
This collaboration provides an opportunity to organise a regular exchange of experience combined with personal meetings, the joint border checks by the respective Ranger Services, and joint events.
