The European Landscape Convention of the Council of Europe was ratified by the Hungarian Parliament almost 10 years ago. On the occasion of the anniversary, Deputy State Secretary for Environment Dr. András Rácz, , Chairman of the National Coordination Working Group for the European Landscape announced that Hungary is joining the international day initiative.
On October 20, the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention, we celebrate the landscape as an indispensable component of the human environment; one which expresses the diversity of common cultural and natural heritage. The landscape promotes local cultural development, contributes to the well-being of people, and plays a significant role in the emergence and strengthening of national and local identity.
