National Hunting Day 2018
Thousands of people spent the 8th of September 2018 in Putnok in the sports hall and the open-air stage next to it. The small Gömör Region town also hosted the 26th National Hunting Day. The Hungarian National Hunting Association has entrusted the organisation of the event to Putnok because it falls under the jurisdiction of the Aggtelek National Park Directorate, which has been pursuing highly successful wildlife management activities for many years. Many important officials attended, including: Dr. Zsolt Semjén, Deputy Prime Minister, and President of the National Hunting Protection Association; Dr. István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture; Dr. László Jámbor, President of the National Hungarian Hunting Chamber; and Putnok Mayor Barnabás Tamás.

Aggtelek National Park, as one of the main sponsors of the day, took part in the programme several times. There was an introduction to the hucul horse, and the horses also played an important role in the opening ceremony. The opportunity helped us popularise our equestrian programmes.

It was an honour for ANP to host the opening concert in the Baradla Cave Concert Hall on the previous afternoon. Thousands of guests were entertained by no lesser a person than Zoltán Mága, Prima Primissima award winning violinist.

Events similar to the National Hunt Day have not been held in the county before. According to Barnabás Tamás, "This weekend is a great opportunity for us to introduce ourselves to the Hungarian hunting society." He added that although similar events had been going on for several years now, success was not only due to experience, but also to the fact that besides the traditional elements, the special features of the region were also emphasised. Several honours were awarded during the opening ceremony.

Hunting dog, falconry and horse archery shows; chariot racing competitions; game dishes; local dancers; singers and musicians were also included in the programme.

The official logo of the World Hunting Exhibition in Budapest, 2021 was also unveiled.Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén said, "After fifty years we can host such a prestigious programme whose preparations have already begun." He then assured everyone that at the the Government will be making significant investments for Hungexpo 2020.
