The Minister of Agriculture has ordered a general fire ban on all properties within 200 m of forested or wooded areas.
During the period of the fire ban, lighting fires is also prohibited at previously designated campfire sites.
The ban has come into effect because of the increased risk of forest fires caused by heightened temperatures, lack of precipitation and strong winds.
The Minister draws the attention of forestry and agricultural workers, road and rail workers to avoid carelessly disposing of cigarette butts and burning cigarettes. Violations of this order carries a fine.
The fire ban is valid until rescinded by the Minister. For more information: www.erdotuz.hu. The actual order can be downloaded here.
