On the Trail of Pasque Flowers and Mountain Springs, Aggtelek National Park

Jósvafő’s 5 springs bubble forth crystal clear karst water after the spring thaw. Make a tour among the sunny hills, springs and blooming pasque flowers blanketing the magnificent landscape.

Distance and Duration: 6 km, 3 hours
Tickets: 1000 Huf/person, or 700 Huf/person if you come with a group of 10 or more people; 500 Huf/student or senior citizen; 2000 Huf.

International Dark Sky Week at Aggtelek National Park

Following a brief presentation at the Education Centre, there will be a short walking tour at night away from the light pollution to a place where guests can learn about the spring constellations through telescopes. Away from the city lights, the constellations are visible to the naked eye. Conservation experts and astronomers will introduce guests to this unique world – the protected natural areas of the night sky. As part of International Dark Sky Week, all of Hungary’s 10 national parks are organising Dark Sky or Star Gazing Tours. Celebrate the stars! Created in 2003 by high-school student Jennifer Barlow, International Dark Sky Week has grown to become a worldwide event and a key component of Global Astronomy Month. “I want to help preserve its wonder." – Jennifer Barlow Dark Sky Week Goals - Inspire people to celebrate the beauty of the night sky - Raise awareness about the negative effects of light pollution - Embolden folks to Take Action!

Into the Zug! Zemplén Nature Reserve

The Bodrogzug is Hungary’s last remaining periodically flooded area. In early spring the undergrowth in forest groves are crowned with blue and white flowers, while the surrounding waters erupt with bird songs. The programme will be held only at low tide!

Earth Day at Aggtelek National Park (environmental education programme for schools)

The Earth’s natural wonders – everyday nature and environmental protection. Presentations and playful learning. The theme for Earth Day 2016 is “Trees for the Earth. Let’s get planting.” Over the next five years, as Earth Day moves closer to its 50th anniversary, the Earth Day Foundation is calling on you to help them achieve one of its most ambitious goals yet —planting 7.8 billion trees and they’re starting now.
