DUE TO TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES THE METEOR CAVE TOUR IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
About the Tour
Distance: 5.2 km (a little over 3 miles)
Duration: 5-6 hours
The tour departs and ends at the Ticket Office by the Baradla Cave entrance in Aggtelek. The Park transports participants to Bódvaszilas (and back to Aggtelek at the end of the tour). The overland walk from Bódvaszilas to the Meteor Cave and back is 4.4 km. Visitors will explore 800m of the cave over 2-3 hours. The adventure of the Meteor Cave is among the most difficult in Aggtelek National Park. In fact, one could classify it as really extreme in terms of the physical exertion required. Therefore, only sign up for this tour if you are in good physical condition and are capable of completing demanding climbs. You will be required to crawl and clamber among debris, as well as scale ladders secured to the walls of shafts in order to reach the monumental Hall of Titans. In the Hall of Titans you will encounter unparalleled richness in the size and forms of the dripstones. The mammoth stalactites are accompanied by delightful twisted dripstones.
